Sweet July is a skincare brand that helps people find joy and comforting their everyday moments through their skincare products. Ayesha Curry, the founder of Sweet July persisted with her previous web design team for 2 years with no progress for her brand as the website couldn’t go live. When we took her project in 2023, our challenge was to develop and design an aesthetically pleasing, responsive, and functional site in Shopify. As the website was already delayed for about 2 years, our client wanted us to go live ASAP! And so we did. We proudly launched the website absolutely according to Ayesha Curry's expectations in just a couple of months.
We created Sweet July’s website with a user-centered approach. We took this project as our TOP priority and designed an attention-grabbing as well as functional website. The strategy we implemented followed responsive design principles including seamless navigation, and visual hierarchy with a user-friendly site architecture and navigation.
Ayesha Curry's requirement was more of a vibrant and category kind of website as it gives the perfect voice to her skincare brand. Thus, we set a unique voice for her brand, Sweet July Skin, via our design that exceptionally resonates with her audience. Our UI designers used Figma to design the website considering the users' need to give them a seamless and friendly experience.
We ensured a smooth experience by making every element visible at the exact time our users wanted to see it. It includes creating intuitive interfaces & optimized usability. Our clients were a team of 7 people working back and forth on the design feedback. At first, it was a bit challenging to get in step with all of their design perspectives. Yet, gradually we understood each other and produced the required UI.
We communicated with our client the need for a mobile-first design approach. As 78% of the world's population own a mobile phone, and use it to connect with their preferred brands, it was necessary to design responsive mobile screens first. Using advanced techniques in responsive web development, we optimized the website layout and structure to deliver a flawless browsing experience across different devices and resolutions. Our experts used Liquid, to write the code, and carefully create custom templates, sections, and snippets that made the client's design ideas real. We implemented Liquid's include feature to modularize our code, allowing us to reuse common elements across different pages or sections of the website. With this approach, we not only ensured to design a website that works exceptionally well for our client but also facilitated easier maintenance and updates in the future!
Comparatively, for e-commerce brands, more than 60% of organic traffic comes through their mobile screens than any other screens. But Sweet July’s previous team hadn’t even considered working on the mobile screens. However, after some thorough hunting, we found out most of their store visitors were ideally women between the age group of 16 to 50 years, and most of the shoppers rely on their mobile screens to hang out & research the brand. Thus, we started with designing the mobile screens first. Responsive mobile screens that fit their web visitor’s screens PERFECTLY so they don't have to waste their time in constant pinching & zooming to fit the design in their respective screens but directly connect with Sweet July’s offers.
We understand the power visual language and color palettes hold to define the brand's identity. Having a strong language is of utmost importance for every brand as it helps end-users to recognize the brand easily & it also helps businesses to stand out. Therefore while designing Sweet July Skin, every color, icon, and shape ensured to give a welcoming atmosphere so their brand's identity matches with their customer's perception. During the design creation, our goal was to focus on every small detail including colors, illustrations, and typefaces.
The right typography can increase the product's enhancement, user experience, and engagement levels to a great extent. During the designing process, our focus was on using typefaces that are easy to read, and accessible to all. Therefore we used GT America font for the Sweet July website to give a user experience that prompts them to take the desired action.
